About

Ginkgo biloba is the most extensively studied herbal supplement for cognitive function. Its flavonoid glycosides and terpene lactones enhance cerebral blood flow, provide antioxidant neuroprotection, and may modulate neurotransmitter systems. While the large GEM trial found no dementia prevention benefit, the standardized EGb 761 extract shows modest benefits for existing cognitive impairment.

How It Works

Enhances cerebral blood flow through vasodilation and blood viscosity reduction; flavonoid glycosides and terpene lactones provide antioxidant neuroprotection; may modulate acetylcholine and serotonin neurotransmitter systems.
